2020 4th of July Free IVF Lottery

“This is our way of providing hope for patients unable to afford treatment, and to give back to our community.”

—  Dr. Tur-Kaspa, Founder of IHR

In light of COVID-19, IHR has chosen to donate a free IVF cycle to a couple in need but unable to afford infertility treatment. The couple will be selected anonymously through a voluntary lottery. The initiative reflects the Institute for Human Reproduction’s desire to help make infertility treatments more accessible to all those desiring the joy of parenting, especially during these tough times.

Why:

COVID-19 has put an extra financial stress on people seeking to have a child through IVF
COVID-19 has put an extra financial stress on people seeking to have a child through IVF

On average, an IVF cycle costs about $10,000 to $15,000. This does not include any additional procedures, third-party services, or medications.  Moreover, the COVID-19 pandemic has put an extra financial stress on people seeking to have a child through IVF. Helping all patients gain access to effective and efficient treatment has long been a driving philosophy of Dr. Tur-Kaspa, who previously served as the President of the Chicago Association of Reproductive Endocrinologists.  We are especially proud of our clinic’s insistence to also provide treatment to patients with complicated cases or low chances to conceive, and those who may have been turned down by other programs.

"Today many families are facing challenging economic times. At IHR, we are struck by the number of men and women from all over the US and around the world who come to us seeking advanced infertility treatment only to learn that the cost for the best solution for them to have a child, an IVF Cycle, is beyond their reach,"  - Dr. Tur-Kaspa

When:

The Free IVF Cycle drawing will be held at 12 CDT on July 4th, 2020. The Free IVF Cycle recipient will be contacted, and the chosen candidate’s statement will be posted anonymously on the IHR's home webpage. The Free IVF Cycle is non-transferable and must be used within four months of selection. The 900 N. Michigan Surgical Center will partner with IHR to make this gift possible.

“The day before thanksgiving I was lying in bed and my phone rang around 7pm, I looked at the caller-Id it was an unknown number. Usually I do not answer numbers that are not in my phone book. But on this particular day I answered. I heard a deep voice with an accent said hello can I speak to ... and I responded. Then he said you won the lottery for the free IVF. At that moment I was speechless, shock and angry because I thought someone was playing a prank on me and what a Devastating act knowing that I have fertility struggles... Finally Monday came and I spoke to Vickie ... She was so wonderful she explained everything to me and she confirmed yes I did win. That’s when I called my husband screaming “we won, we are going to make a baby.” I am beyond grateful, just when I was ready to give up, I received a call from Dr. Tur-Kaspa. He’s a blessing on this earth ... I believe everything happens for a reason. Thank you, I’m touched beyond words. Let’s make a healthy baby.”

“When I received the call from Dr. Tur-Kuspa stating we are the winners of the 2013 IVF, I actually hung up on him and thought it was a cruel joke. My husband read all the great reviews about him before we made the trip to Chicago, but we were still in disbelief. After meeting with Dr. Tur-Kuspa we had a great confidence in his ability, and right from the beginning we became aware of his great knowledge and experience. I appreciated Dr. Tur-Kuspa’s honesty and that he didn’t mislead me with false hope. The supporting and compassionate staff helped relieve the stress and anxiety that IVF brings! I really appreciated that they always explained to me what they were doing and I never felt rushed. It may sound simple, but it helped me tremendously. Today my husband and I are proud parents of two twin boys. My prayers have been answered and I am so thankful to Dr. Tur-Kuspa and IHR making my dream of having a family come true!

“My wife and I were the winners of the FREE 2013 IVF cycle that was given away by Dr. Tur Kaspa and IHR. The day before Thanksgiving, around 7 pm, my wife received a call stating that she was the winner of a free IVF. I was immediately skeptical, not believing that anyone would give away such an expensive procedure for free... Our experience at the other clinic left much to be desired... Fast forward to the phone call of a free IVF. We met shortly thereafter with Dr. Tur-Kaspa and he reviewed our medical records and patiently listened to all of our questions and concerns. I was immediately put at ease by his style and reassurances that he would get us pregnant. Dr. Tur Kaspa and the staff were great at every step of the way. Dr. Tur-Kaspa was confident that he would be able to produce and retrieve eggs and that he could be aggressive with the medications. We were able to implant 2 embryos, but unfortunately the IVF cycle was ultimately unsuccessful. Dr. Tur Kaspa and his staff were remarkably compassionate about our situation. After some time to reflect on everything that had happened, we were extremely pleased with the services and effort that Dr. Tur-Kaspa provided , and decided that we would cash in our retirement money to try one last time. We met again with Dr. Tur-Kaspa to discuss how our second NF cycle would go. Everything went like clockwork again. I should also note that Dr. Tur-Kaspa had his staff work explain to us discount programs that were available from the pharmacy where the medications were ordered from. The second time, at day 5, we were able to transfer 2 embryos and still had 4 embryos left to be frozen. My wife became pregnant with TWINS! We are now the proud parents of 2 beautiful boys... I can’t speak highly enough about Dr. Tur-Kaspa and IHR. There was a night and day difference between our experience with Dr. Tur-Kaspa and the other clinic. Dr. Tur-Kaspa (or staff) was always available to answer questions or concerns, and I never felt that we were just someone who was there only to pay his salary. The highest compliment I can give Dr. Tur-Kaspa is that I tell everyone I know about him, IHR and the great work they do there. If you are looking at IVF for the first time, or just want a second opinion, go talk to Dr. Tur-Kaspa. You will be very glad you did. ”

“I was first contacted by Dr Tur-Kaspa on thanksgiving Eve. To me I felt it was a big joke. I seriously did not believe him when he told me I was the winner of the 2012 IVF lottery. I called my hubby, who was on his way to work, and he too felt it was not real. On our first meeting with Dr Tur-Kaspa, it was tears all through because am yet to believe if its real or a dream. This where his words (Let’s get you pregnant). I have been trying for 6 years and not successful, been to different hospitals with nothing to show for it. But thanks to Dr Tur-Kaspa, who has made my dream come through, I am proud to say am finally PREGNANT. (Tears of joy) Thank you Dr Tur-Kaspa and the IHR family, I would not have done this without your encouragement and help. Thank You!!! ”

“We were delighted to win the free 2011 IVF competition at the Institute for Human Reproduction (IHR). It was disbelief at first; we thought this was too good to be true. We couldn’t believe how lucky we were! Everyone we spoke to—including the person who set up the initial consultation, the IHR staff, and Dr. Tur-Kaspa was very professional, helpful, and genuinely nice. However, it was the initial consultation with Dr. Tur-Kaspa that really set this facility apart from others. We have undergone treatment at two other well known facilities in the Chicago-land area. Here, Dr. Tur-Kaspa never made us feel rushed, encouraged us to ask any and all questions, treated us as individuals, and made us feel totally at ease. He reviewed our medical history in great detail, presented all the options with pros and cons, and gave suggestions for what he felt would be the best course for us... The care, attention, and respect we received so far has been exceptional.
Thank you! ”
